Welcome to GS1 Malta…a member of
the international organisation GS1…
Who
is GS1 Malta?
GS1
Malta (formerly EAN Malta) was originally established
in 1992 by the Malta Federation of Industry (FOI) and
the General Retailers and Traders Union (GRTU) as a
non-profit making body to promote a standard business
system for identification and communication. Representatives
from active users of these standards form GS1 Malta’s
Board of Directors.
Over
the past thirteen years the development of bar code
scanning, especially at the point of sale and improved
business communications have become a part of many companies’
way of life. The EAN.UCC System provides for the use
of unambiguous numbers to identify goods, services,
assets, and locations worldwide.
GS1
Malta is the sole numbering authority for Malta. Over
300 companies in Malta form part of our membership base,
benefiting from the use of unique identification of
their products and/or services, being part of an international
on-line database, training, consultancy and other activities
that GS1 Malta organises to keep its members updated
with today’s ever changing commercial world.
About GS1…

the United States. Today, it has 101 Member Organisations

turn, provide full support and information to their
local member companies.
